El Sueño Del Infante

The hotel was clean, the room was a good size, and the nightly price seemed reasonable. We stayed three days and were generally satisfied. It’s near the city centre and Palacio del infantado. The staff were hard for us to understand because they didn’t speak English. One young man knew a little, but we couldn’t communicate with the others. I know foreign languages aren’t widely spoken in Spain, but it surprised me that the younger staff didn’t know one. The €5 continental breakfast wasn’t enough for us, more like half a loaf of bread with something, so I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s a nice bakery about 150-200 metres away with sweet and savoury snacks. I’d still stay at this hotel if I visited Guadalajara again.

The staff are what made this place feel like home. Jacobo, Gabriela, Alberto, Luis, Raúl, Nico and the rest of the team were joyful, kind, courteous and genuinely interested in helping. Diego especially stood out as both a fantastic professional and a lovely person. He made me feel like a friend. My partner and I came to Guadalajara for work and booked two weeks. When I called, the service was excellent and we got a great price. We fell for the city, helped by the hotel’s central location. It’s rated one star, but the stay felt five-star to me. The room had what I needed for a short or longer stay. I had to work there and didn’t always have much time for housekeeping, but they still got it spotless quickly. There was also a lovely lounge they could set up as a quiet, comfortable place for me to work. The cleaning team was fantastic. We’re still in Guadalajara a little longer and already plan to visit the café again to see everyone. I hope we return to El Sueño del Infante someday. If you’re reading this, I hope you book without hesitation. You won’t regret it.

My room was 106, and I had a very bad stay. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing break. The bathroom shower leaked badly from underneath and flooded the room, with water reaching the bed area. I used all my towels trying to contain it. The drain cover was missing when I arrived, so I had to put it back myself. The weatherstripping around the bathroom door was rotten from repeated leaks, and the entrance door was in very poor condition. When I went under the bed to retrieve the wet towels, I found a huge buildup of dirt. The room was badly lacking in cleanliness. I was put beside the stairs and elevator, in a layout where the staircase connects straight to reception and the dining room. I could hear guests coming and going, staff talking and dining room noise. I couldn’t rest in the afternoon, and the reception phone rang several times at night and woke me up.

We had dinner here, and the portions were generous. The grilled cuttlefish with salad was great, as was the tomato dish, which I highly recommend. There’s an indoor dining room and a large outdoor patio. The hotel was impeccably clean, and all the staff were friendly. Fantastic value for money. I’ll definitely come back.
