Hotel Rural Finca Barral

The rooms were perfect for us. We had two, one for us and one for the kids. It’s a beautiful farm, close enough to Sevilla to get there easily, but peaceful enough to switch off and breathe.

The clean room and the bed were great. The scenery is spectacular, and it’s a quiet, relaxing place for a break from city life. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night because our holiday was short, but next time we’ll stay longer and hire a car to get around. Highly recommended.

I woke up in the middle of the night to find a staff member in my room. I was traveling alone, and it was terrifying. The building’s air conditioning controls were in my room, so guests knocked on my door all evening asking me to change the settings. It happened eight times, and I kept adjusting them. After I stopped answering once I went to bed, someone came in around 11 pm using a staff key to change the air again. They shut it off completely. It was 100F/37C outside that day, and the room stayed hot for the rest of the night. People kept knocking after that, and I didn’t sleep again. It was a horrible stay. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all. Another guest warned me at check-in. There’s very little cell reception in the countryside, so as a woman traveling alone, I wish I’d known beforehand that there would be no working Wi-Fi for safety reasons. It feels like false advertising. Several guests got locked out by the front gate because the code system only worked sometimes. They only answered the phone sometimes, too. In theory, it could be a nice, relaxing place, but my actual stay was a nightmare.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I made a reservation five months in advance and paid the full price, but the hotel canceled it two days before I was due to arrive. I tried contacting them through messages, the booking app, and by phone, but got no answer.
