There are plenty of spots to spend time together or find a little space on your own. We especially loved the pool, and the pool house has a panoramic view that made it a lovely place for yoga or meditation. The villa itself was just right, with roomy bedrooms, an easy elegance, and a kitchen set up well for cooking together. We loved our stay and would happily return.

The outdoor space was one of our favorite parts, with beautiful views and a calm atmosphere. Our host was kind, attentive, and quick to help whenever we had a question, which made us feel very welcome. Inside, the villa was beautifully designed, clean, and stocked with what we needed. The bedrooms were bright and spacious, with lovely views, and the work area was great for getting things done while still enjoying a relaxing stay. We'd definitely like to come back.

We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy everything. There was a yoga room in the pool house, a volleyball court, a pool, and a fire pit where we watched the stars. The house was thoughtfully arranged and had everything our family needed. Everyone could relax in their own way, whether by the pool, under a palm tree or balcony, on the roof terrace, or indoors. Great location, and the hosts were the best we could have asked for.

We spent the week using both the house and apartment, and could easily have stayed on the property all day. The garden and pool were lovely, with a perfect sea view. Everything indoors and out was cared for, and you could see the attention given to the architecture and little details. Definitely five stars.

In January 2023, we spent two weeks at Villa by the Sea in Mala with our four-month-old son, on our first family holiday. We couldn't have asked for a better place. The house had everything we needed, was cozy, and honestly better equipped than our own home. There are so many lovely spots that it's hard to decide where to settle: reading by the fireplace at night, sitting on the veranda watching the palms move in the wind, doing yoga in the pool house, or taking a quick dip in the pool. The place has a peaceful, almost magical feel. You can walk from the house to the coast in about ten minutes. Charco del Palo is about a half-hour walk, with another swimming area and natural pool there, just keep an eye out for the naked people. Ilka was the sweetest, most helpful host, and if we could, we'd move to Mala in a heartbeat.
