The owner was kind and kept checking that everything was all right. The place is an old village house turned into a guesthouse, though it could use some updating since everything seemed worn. I wasn't keen on the decor, but that's personal taste. Breakfast was coffee with milk or tea, toast and jam, plus sponge cake for us. Fine if you're only stopping over, in my view, but I wouldn't choose it for a longer stay.

Cristina was warm and attentive throughout, and she knows a lot about the area's history, customs, and culture. Her recommendations and local knowledge were a real plus. The house itself is a beautifully restored 17th-century place, decorated with charm and original flooring downstairs. We still have plenty to explore, so we'd love to come back to La Cantarera.

The breakfast was very sparse: coffee or tea, with one tea bag in a lot of water, plain white toast that didn't look appetizing, and some sliced tomatoes that seemed stale. The whole place felt neglected. It was dark and hot, though the room did have air conditioning, and the walls had cracks and peeling paint. There were black cobwebs all over the staircase. On arrival, there was a horrible stale, musty smell, like the place hadn't been aired out. Parking was a problem too, with very narrow streets and three cars already parked out front, so we couldn't find a space. It needs cleaning and renovation. I wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed three days in this rural house dating from around 1640 and had a great time. The owner was lovely and looked after us, with suggestions for places to visit nearby. We'd come back.

Saturday dinner was my favorite part: tomato soup, chicken with raisin sauce, and roasted potatoes with paprika and peppers, all delicious. I especially loved the pink tea set. The house, dating from 1680, has all kinds of details and unusual little corners, each with a story of its own. There's a lovely mix of old, comfortable, and beautiful, and the place feels so peaceful. We were very comfortable, and I want to return. Cristina, who runs the house, was super nice and suggested some really interesting places. We finished the evening with a soulful wine, Habla del silencio, which I loved.
