Hello readers, The hot water took a while to reach the shower, but once it arrived, it was properly hot. We also got to enjoy the air conditioning in winter, which doesn’t work as a heater. The furniture comes right off the wall, so give it a try. A 50 year old man screamed at me in a language I don’t fully understand yet, and figuring it out felt like guessing the password to the Netflix account they provide. Using a translator app to speak with the owner’s daughter got us a discount on damage we hadn’t caused. Sorry we didn’t scratch the doors. Thanks for the WhatsApp chats, including the harassment and requests for personal information we’d already provided. Booking.com reviewed your complaints, and I’m sure they fully support the removable furniture arrangement. You assured me it gets checked after every guest, so be sure to keep doing that. If dry, old pastries are your thing, the 24hour shop next door has some. You can guess how long they’ve been sitting there from how dry they are. This was our review of hotel donana and the village hinojos. Drunk men, church on Sunday, and screaming neighbours. If you want your stay cut short after you’ve already paid, open the window shutters so the cleaning lady can see straight into your room. She’ll kindly join the owners when they visit, and she knows how to use a translator on her phone. We couldn’t have imagined a better trip to hinojos. The experience was unforgettable. If you enjoy drama like we do, Google maps says this place is closed, but you can still book through booking.com, just as we did. Visit during heavy rain so none of your things can dry. The staff were very kind and clearly tried hard, but the room was uncomfortable and didn’t feel welcoming. There was mold in the shower, the towels weren’t fully clean, and the blinds wouldn’t work. You also had to move the TV just to open the window.

There was nobody at reception when we arrived, and we waited 15 minutes for someone to show up. The website says there’s a TV and Wi-Fi, but there was neither. When I raised it with the person in charge, they said I could hand back the keys and leave if I didn’t like it. I won’t be returning.

We called a few days ahead and booked a room, but when we arrived, they said they had none available and left us to fend for ourselves. The receptionist was arrogant and rude. That hotel is a dump, and nobody should go there if they don’t want to be treated badly.

The food at the restaurant next door was really good, and the price was good too. The hostel was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Our receptionist was friendly and helped us with everything. I’d recommend it and will come back if I pass through Hinojo again.
