Casa Rural La Guindalera

The best part was the company, because good company can make anything work. The house has a barbecue and a pool, and could be good for groups, but be careful who you rent it from. We were nine, which was already a tight squeeze, and thankfully not the thirteen we first planned. Some beds weren't made despite them knowing how many of us were coming, and there weren't sheets for those beds or enough towels. The place was okay, though not very clean. Online listings were confusing and poorly written. We chose La Guindalera because the internet said it had a spa, but there wasn't one in the house, just a jacuzzi in one of the rooms.

We stayed at La Guindalera for three days, and the hosts were welcoming, attentive, and very friendly. The house was spacious and very clean, including the disinfected rooms and pool. We especially liked the comfortable rooms, each with its own theme, and the lovely patio. A wonderful rural getaway.

The house itself is fine, but it's badly neglected, and the owner treated us with very poor manners. We went with friends for a quiet weekend because Escapada Rural said La Guindalera had a pool and spa. When we called on arrival to ask how to use the spa, we were told it was closed, with no explanation. The owner later refused to meet with us and hear us out when we calmly asked what had happened. He said we should have checked his website and called before booking to ask about the spa, even though the property was advertised on other accommodation sites too. There were two unmade beds and no sheets for us to make them ourselves, so we had to share a bed, which we wanted to avoid given the current situation. The house is extremely sparsely furnished. The room that supposedly held sheets and cleaning supplies was locked, the first time I've rented an entire rural house and been denied access to part of it. There was no dish soap, and the dishwasher had no salt or rinse aid. We only got toilet paper after calling and having someone bring some. The stereo, foosball table, and games listed in the ad were nowhere to be found. False advertising and terrible service. We won't return or recommend it.

The owners made us feel very welcome, and the house was clean when we arrived. They'd even lit the fireplace for us, a lovely touch. It's very spacious and comfortable for up to 10 people, with a big living room and a patio that has a covered barbecue area and swimming pool. Add in the charming places around Hita, and it's a perfect weekend house for friends.
