Somiatruites

Somiatruites was a spectacular restaurant. There’s a real sense of class in everything, from the interior to the beautifully balanced flavours on the plate. I just relaxed and enjoyed it 😁 Highly recommended!

We felt safe around the hotel, and the area was quiet for most of our long weekend. Monday and Tuesday mornings were noisier because a big event was being set up in the streets and local buildings, though Monday evening was very quiet. Street parking was free, and we always found a space nearby. The car was fine. The room was contemporary, with lots of wood, metal and raw finishes, plus great space and lighting. We had a balcony overlooking the square with lovely views and decent privacy from other rooms. There was water and a nice mini-bar selection. We usually don’t use those, but Augustin said it was cheap, and he was right. The red wine, Vichy Catalan, coke and local tax came to €20 at checkout, which felt very reasonable. The bed was fantastic. We meant to check the brand because I want one in the UK. The bathroom setup was quirky, with the shower over the bath and a platform with a grate that slides aside for bathing. I think a larger grate would work better than the solid part of the cover, since it could get wet, but the shower was lovely and my girlfriend loved the bath. There’s no bathroom door, so you need to be comfortable sharing the room with the person you’re travelling with. We could charge our devices easily, but there wasn’t much room to put luggage away. Mine fit on a wardrobe shelf, while my girlfriend’s was just a little too big for the door to close. We managed fine and are used to living out of cases. A couple more hooks for towels or jackets would help too, since the two by the bed were high up and awkward to reach. We came to Igualada for a family friend’s wedding. Somiatruites stood out among a bunch of bland-looking accommodation, and the price was very good. Our flight was delayed, so we arrived late, but Augustin checked us in and went through the room details, even while busy with the restaurant. He was lovely and made us feel welcome. The whole place was amazing, easily one of the nicest places I’ve stayed in Spain. Sadly, we didn’t get around to trying the restaurant. Igualada may not really be a tourist destination, but we’re keen to return to Somiatruites, try the restaurant and wander around town.

The staff are very helpful and the service is really good. We only had breakfast, and it was exquisite.
