Breakfast at Hotel Aitana is included with most room rates. There was a decent amount of food, though the quality was nothing special, and it worked for an early start. For rail travel, the location is hard to beat: Iran Ficuba station on the Euskotren line from San Sebastián to Hendaye is right beside the pension, with Hendaye one stop away. You can also walk over the pedestrian bridge from Hendaye SNCF station in about ten minutes. The rooms are clean and reasonably comfortable, with good ensuite bathrooms. They're fairly small, and some have a pleasant balcony view. Keep in mind they're on the first or second floor, with no lift, and reception is at Hotel Aitana a few doors away. Next time I'd pay the extra €10 a night to stay there for the lift, depending on how you feel about carrying luggage upstairs. It's a handy stop on the way to or from Hendaye. Book early and directly with the pension for a cheap, cheerful stay. We paid significantly more when we booked one leg through Booking.com.

We picked this place because the train station was an easy walk away. The rooms were nice and very clean. The only bother was the nearby restaurants. With the window open, we could hear the crowds making noise through the night.

The location is the main draw here. It's a basic budget pension, open late, with small but comfortable rooms. The neighborhood feels a bit rough, and the local bars are pretty pricey, especially when you can cross the border and get the same or better for half the cost. I ran into some issues during my stay, but to be fair, they did sort them out.

At least the place was fairly clean, but it wasn't worth that high price. The room and bed were tiny, it was noisy, and the staff weren't friendly. I'd only stay here if I absolutely had to.
