Carballo De Prado 1900

The rooms and facilities were lovely, but the walls are so thin. After a long day hiking, we were exhausted and just wanted a decent sleep. The couple next door stayed up very late, talking loudly and banging doors, so it was a restless night. The plate of earplugs at the entrance makes sense now. Breakfast at 0815 is much too late for pilgrims wanting an early start, when most hotels serve it around 0630. They gave us a small breakfast box to take along, which was a nice gesture.

We stayed here on our Camino and loved it. The rooms were spotless, and Eva was a warm, friendly, fabulous host who even picked us up from the Monastery. The outside space looked lovely, though bad weather meant we couldn’t use it. Such a beautiful place to stay. Maria and Sharon x

The food and rooms were great, and Ana made the whole place feel welcoming, almost like staying at a friend’s home. We especially loved relaxing on the patio in the evenings. If you’re doing the Variante Espiritual of the Camino Portugués, they’ll collect you from the Armenteira Monastery and take you back to the Camino the next morning. We had a lovely stay and I’m already looking forward to coming back.

We didn’t get to discover what the place itself is like, as our plans changed unexpectedly. Even though we cancelled just one night before our stay, the owner kindly let us do so without a penalty. That flexibility put us at ease and really stayed with us. Thank you for being so understanding. We’ll have to plan better and return another time.
