After one night, we cut our stay short and looked for somewhere more suitable. We calmly explained why to the owner or manager, and their attitude changed completely afterward. Booking.com tried to reach the property about a possible goodwill gesture even though the booking was non-refundable, but got no reply. When we followed up ourselves, the property wouldn’t discuss it either. We’d booked based on the price and positive reviews, expecting a cozy, pleasant apartment in one of Jerez’s better areas. It was a very disappointing experience. The space feels more like a garage converted into a loft than an apartment, with basic decor and little comfort. The bed is only a few meters from the street, where passing cars bring constant noise and headlights through the night. On the kitchen side, there’s a garage, so you cook just centimeters from your car. The extractor doesn’t work properly, and smoke spreads through the whole space when you cook. Cleanliness was below an acceptable standard. The freezer was dirty, some pans weren’t clean, and the kitchen sponge was old and unhygienic. The heating unit is much too small for the space, and even with it running, the apartment stayed cold during our stay. The lighting is poorly designed too, leaving the place gloomy and depressing rather than warm or welcoming. This might work for people with very low expectations, but at this price there are much better options in Jerez. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting comfort, warmth, or a pleasant atmosphere.
We had a very positive trip and the price felt good for the time we spent there. I’d definitely return to Entre Bodagas, and highly recommend it. We rented one of the suites at the Entre Bodegas for a few nights. The converted building has separate suites or apartments and a shared inner courtyard. It’s about a 2 km walk from the train station. The apartment had a lovely modern design, with the charm of an old Andalusian finca or bodega, and the suite was fantastic. The owner’s dog Pepa was a nice extra in the welcome. One small thing: the heaters couldn’t warm the rooms on a one-off cold November night when it was 5c.
I’ve stayed here three times, and each visit has been great. The apartments have a distinctive, cozy feel and are well equipped for either a short or long stay. There’s a great atmosphere, covered parking, and it’s only a few minutes from the center of Jerez. Juan, the owner, is friendly and attentive. I can’t see a reason to choose somewhere else when I come to Jerez for the fourth time.
Juan was welcoming and speaks fluent English. He gave us detailed tips on things to do, see, and eat, and the Old Town location, 450 m from the Cathedral and Alcázar, was ideal for exploring Jerez. Bar Arturo was an excellent pick too, with locals enjoying fantastic seafood from the Gulf of Cadiz and Sanlúcar. We stayed in the two-bedroom accommodation in an impressive historic converted winery. It has charming stone walls, high ceilings, and a cellar door. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet, so we slept peacefully. There’s secure, covered off-street parking in the garage, plus a beautiful, secluded shared patio and terrace. The kitchen dining area is well kept, and Juan left some provisions, including milk for coffee, though the coffee was lukewarm. The bathroom has character, but the shower was awkward. It’s better to hold the head by hand because it doesn’t work well fixed in place, and the alternative rose head wouldn’t screw on securely. Water can spread across the floor and rug since the shower isn’t enclosed. The toilet paper was wafer thin too. The washing machines are in a separate storage room at the end of the garage. Getting there and back takes two bundles of keys, which is inefficient, and there are no drying facilities. Juan also charges 30€ for cleaning and 35€ per extra guest, which seems excessive from my experience. Many hotels charge nothing, and Eurostars Guadaquivir Sevilla charges only 14€. It was an authentic stay, with a few things that could be improved. A welcome pack with house guidelines in Spanish and English, the Wifi code, places to visit, and maps would help. Fewer key bundles, a recycling point, and a few other minor upgrades would also be good.
Juan was gracious, attentive, and quick to help whenever we needed anything. He also gave us a long, useful list of local places. We stayed at EntreBodegas unit#2, a lovely spot we’d love to return to. The kitchen was well outfitted, and bodegas, Tabacas, and restaurants were an easy walk away. The unit has a beautiful courtyard centered around an olive tree. Inside, its sherry-bodega style architecture comes through in the very high ceiling, antique touches, and striking original door, while modern amenities make it comfortable for a stay in the 21st century.
