Albir Garden Resort

The newly renovated rooms were lovely, and our week here was pleasant. We had all-inclusive meals, which were nice and varied, plus a different theme restaurant each night alongside the main one. I really recommend trying them. There was an indoor bar, an outdoor bar, a poolside snack bar, and entertainment every evening. It's a large complex in a central part of Albir. The beach is about a 15-minute walk, or you can take the local bus from just outside for 1.60 euro/person. There were a lot of guests while we were there, and at times it seemed the staff were stretched thin and stressed, even though they did their best. The main restaurant was extremely noisy, so we didn't want to sit there longer than necessary. We also missed having dish soap and a dish brush in the room, since housekeeping didn't wash dishes despite our all-inclusive stay. All in all, we had a nice week.

The ANIMACIÓN team were wonderful with the children. My kids were entertained every day we were here. I also want to give the bar staff another shout-out. As a British/Welsh person, I’m sorry for the way some British people, especially Scottish people, speak to and treat them. Not all of us Brits are dumb-minded idiots. I liked the rooms, and they’re nice and spacious, though I wish we hadn’t been above the kitchen. We could hear shouting and banging very early in the morning. It’s a great place to stay, and again, I’m sorry for the way some Brits talk to or treat the staff.

We stayed at the end of October 25, a family of four on all-inclusive. The grounds have lots of green space and plants, the pools are clean, and there's a small aquapark with slides, though it only opens for a few hours each day. The hotel is in a good location and clean in parts, but after that I struggled to find positives. The room for eating felt small even out of season, so I dread to think what it’s like when busy or fully booked. All-inclusive only covers a few drinks, and there didn’t seem to be much choice. Even soft drinks were basically just Coke and Sprite. Food was hit and miss: some things were nice, but most was undercooked or cold, with limited options. The pool bars serve burgers, hotdogs, pizza, and fries every day, without variety. Service at the three bars was slow, with long queues because there was only ever one staff member at each area. In the evening the poolside bars close, leaving everyone to queue at one bar with one person working. Staff were mixed too, some nice, others plainly rude, and even a smile could be hard to come by. There were lots of flies and stray cats around the apartments and pool. Some grass areas used for games like dodgeball were covered in cat poo, and once you notice it and the smell, it's hard to forget. The evening shows were disappointing, repetitive, and boring. What really ruined the stay for me was the young international football players using the hotel and facilities. They moved around in big groups and took up space in the canteen and by the pool. There were Spanish, French, Dutch, and Irish players while we were there. The Irish youths, aged 14-18, were especially awful, wandering in gangs of 7-10, fighting one another, swearing, and behaving antisocially. That isn't fair to paying guests, customers, and children. Overall, I'd avoid staying here.

We stayed two nights in a quiet part of town, a fair walk from the seafront. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the service was good. Our room was clean and warm, though it could use some refurbishment. The first night's shower was lukewarm, probably because so many people were staying; we changed the timing the following night and it was fine. Food was okay, a little cold, but there was plenty and a good variety.
