Madanis Liceo

The place was clean and comfortable, and everything seemed well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was easy to get around Barcelona from the convenient location near the L5 metro line, and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Madanis Liceo and would recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning, and being close to a Metro station made the location very convenient. My only complaint was the air conditioning, which barely worked. We had to leave the windows open, and there was a lot of street noise. Luckily we were so tired after sightseeing all day that falling asleep was easy. I can't imagine staying here in summer.

⚠️ The way the fire alarm was handled during my stay raised a serious safety concern. It went off, and it appeared the hotel wasn't connected to the Barcelona fire brigade, which was concerning on its own. More alarming, the receptionist chose to switch the alarm off himself without following proper EU fire-safety procedures. There was no thorough check of every room and common area, no evacuation, and no confirmation that all the guests were safe. A fire alarm isn't just a technical inconvenience. It's a critical safety system that should be handled according to strict regulations, and this response seriously endangered guests.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Hotel Madanis Liceo for four nights, and the experience was shocking. On the second night, we came back to our room and found a random, unknown woman in there, lying in our bed and eating food. We were extremely disturbed and felt unsafe. The staff moved us to another room but handled the incident very poorly, as though it were normal. They didn't take it as seriously as they should have, and there was no real apology or clear explanation of how it could happen. They offered dinner as compensation, but this wasn't about food or hunger. The issue was disrespect for guests and basic safety. This should never happen in a hotel, and their response should have been much more professional. What worries me most is that the same thing could easily happen to someone else. I can't recommend this hotel.
