Boutique Hotel Petit Montisión

At Hotel Petit Monti-Sión in Palma de Mallorca, the staff were attentive and quick to help, the hotel was impressively clean, and the breakfast selection was outstanding. I gave the stay five stars across the board and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful stay in Mallorca.

The hotel is cute, but the details and service need work. When we arrived, the receptionist said there were two reservations under my name, though I knew I’d only made one and had just one reservation number. I don’t know what went wrong. She didn’t seem very knowledgeable and passed everything to her superiors, which was fine, but her manner wasn’t professional. She asked us to come down the next morning to speak with her boss, but nobody was there. For the next few days we heard nothing, so I waited for an email or text that never came. I guess they forgot. I booked directly two or three months ahead because the website advertised some nice benefits. There was no welcome drink, no gift for a stay of three nights or more, and no explanation about the courtesy bikes. When I messaged about it, they said they’d forgotten to remove the offers from the website and had spoken with their director. Having worked in this industry, I think these details and this kind of service matter. After we spoke with the director, who was another receptionist, we did get the gift. Later, we saw the “owner” at the bar and mentioned it to the bartender, who was standing beside her. The owner didn’t come over to check that things were okay or apologize for the confusion. We could also tell the bartender was talking about us to the director right beside us. It didn’t feel very nice. In the room, the main thing missing was towel hooks. We had nowhere to hang the towels except on the heater, which wasn’t comfortable.

The bed was comfortable, the room looked nice, the shower was great and everything worked. The location was great too. But my daughter left something behind, and they said they hadn’t found it. No surprise there. There were rose petals under our bed from previous guests, and the lobby had a terrible smell from cheap perfume being pumped in. The rooms are small, the pillows are much too soft, and they provided just one small bottle of water each day. Breakfast was cheaper and better elsewhere. We were on the first floor, and the noise of staff moving furniture early in the morning woke us up. The reservation mix-up was the worst part. They said I’d booked two rooms, but didn’t tell me until I’d already been there two days. Then they said I owed $240 for the first night of the extra room, and would owe for the next two nights as well unless they found someone to book it, because it was supposedly a no-show reservation, even though I was there. They gave no discount. I hadn’t even known about this reservation, and they didn’t seem to care. I don’t recommend this hotel. It felt like all they cared about was money.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Hotel Petit Monti-Sión in Palma de Mallorca. The cleanliness, breakfast and friendly staff were all top-notch, and I felt right at home. Definitely a five-star experience, and I can’t recommend it enough.
