Calanova Sports Residence

Calanova Sports Residence had a nice view, but I’d never come back. The room was tiny, the shower head was very dirty, and the air conditioning and heater didn’t work. It didn’t feel like a four-star hotel. The worst part began at check-in, when the room smelled strongly of poop. We told the office staff, who asked us to wait a couple of minutes while they tried to help. After 45 minutes, we checked with the receptionist. She said she couldn’t move us because there were no other rooms and could only offer an air freshener. That seemed odd in January, when there weren’t many tourists around. The smell came from the bathroom pipes and never went away, so we slept with it throughout our stay.

We stayed four days and got the self check-in details beforehand. Inside the room, the air conditioning was poor and left everything damp. Opening the door for some air felt much better than staying in the room. The beds were two singles pushed together, which made cuddling difficult for a couple, and the lift wasn’t working.

We had a great view of the marina from our balcony, where the water and boats were lit by changing-colour LED lights. The room was exceptionally clean, and the staff were very friendly. The hotel felt newly built, with a clean, minimalist style. We stayed for a long weekend. Reception closes early, so keep an eye on messages across all platforms for the key safe code. Parking costs extra. For residents it was €12 per day in March 2024, though we found free street parking. Recommended.

It wasn’t too crowded, and the hotel’s location was beautiful. The staff made our stay a great experience. Borja was always available, helped us with all our problems and gave us useful travel advice. We enjoyed the food, especially the breakfast, which was typical for the country. We’ll definitely come back 🙂🥰
