Casa Rural El Tenado

We gave the country house five stars for its excellent service. It's a lovely restored place, comfortable and well kept. La Aldea del Obispo itself has little to offer, with no bars, restaurants, or other services. The closest restaurant is about 5 km away at a service area, where the weekly menu costs 18 euros. We came as nature photographers after booking hides through Hides El Tenado, owned by the same person as the house. That part left us feeling cheated. The website doesn't say where the hides are, and getting there is at our own expense. We drove as much as 260 km round trip to the Montagu's Harrier hide. Including round trips to the other three hides we visited, we covered 785 km in all, which is absurd. It feels like Hides el Tenado is just a central booking service for other hides. A bad experience on that side of things.

The house was beautiful and clean, with comfortable beds and a really good breakfast. It's also a handy base for Monfragüe and Trujillo. We came to see the deer rut and saw and heard it with Eco-Turismo Monfragüe, which we’d recommend too. We spent the weekend at El Tenado, and my whole family loved it. The hosts were wonderful, especially Marisol, thank you so much! We’ll be back for more trips around the area.

From the time we arrived in the village until we left, everyone was friendly and helpful. The house was spotless and orderly, and the information about the area was excellent. We had a sensational stay. Thank you so much for everything.

We stayed here for a second time, about nine years after our first visit, and enjoyed it just as much. The place is clean and very well cared for, with excellent personal service. Highly recommended. Thanks so much, we’ll return again.
