Hostal París

We picked this place because staying on the mainland and walking across to Gibraltar was much cheaper. It was just one night for a friend and me. The beds were comfortable and everything looked clean, though it’s a no-frills place. My shower went cold halfway through, and somehow the bathroom floor was flooded while we were out. Otherwise, it was fine. There’s secure parking underneath the hostal for 10 euros a night.

The receptionist was friendly, and the location is decent, even with bars close by. Sleep was a different story. Since the bathroom is out in the corridor, people kept slamming doors until 2 or 3 in the morning. You can hear everything through the room doors, from talking and crying to other noises, and they really need refurbishing. The cleaner also knocked every morning around 8:30-9:00 to do the rooms, which disturbed guests. Wi-Fi was barely usable, with the only router down in the basement and speeds too low even for messages.

The front desk staff have always been helpful when I’ve stayed here, and the rooms get cleaned daily. They’re basic, but comfortable and clean. You’re right in the center with quick access to some amazing places to eat, as I’ve mentioned in my other reviews. Wi-Fi is usually there, though it can slow down at times. If you’re planning to work in your room, the lack of a desk could be a problem. For a leisure trip, it has what you need.

Really good for the price. There was loads of room for clothes, and the room itself was quite large. The cleaners and service were excellent, and having AC was a lifesaver. The walls are a little thin, sure, but it wasn’t anything extreme.
