Axel Hotel Madrid – Adults Only

I arranged a Madrid birthday trip for my partner and picked Axel Hotel. They upgraded us to a suite on the second floor, which was such a lovely surprise, and the service was wonderful. The staff were friendly, the room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was the best I've ever tried. It was very affordable by Madrid standards, too. I'm so grateful, and I'll definitely stay here again when I return to Madrid. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

A decent middle class hotel if all you need is a good room. Don't expect much from the gym, which is tiny and practically nonexistent. The spa is no better, because there isn't one. You can book a massage, that's all. Housekeeping is stealing from guests' property.

Downstairs at Axel hotel, the "Bala Perdida" club puts on two really fun shows: "Vespera" erotic cabaret and "Bingo de Nicole," which is based on bingo but is a lot more than just a bingo game. Both are presented in Spanish and English, so go enjoy a great night out!

The decor is beautiful, the rooftop has a great view and a bar and pool, and I got a welcome drink. The staff were kind, and the breakfast looked like a good deal, though I didn't try it. But the hotel's setup was frustrating. The corridors felt like a haunted house, the hallway carpet made my bags hard to move, and there was no bellhop service. With two huge bags, I had to leave my things apart from me to check in because reception is up steps. It felt odd and unsafe. Room 408 was beautiful but had the cheapest, most uncomfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. Its door didn't close by itself, so I had to pull it hard, which seems like a basic safety issue. There's also a huge stain by the entrance. The welcome drink and cute touches were nice, but the basic comforts missed the mark.
