Alma Calma Hotel Rural

The four-room hotel is magnificent, and you can tell a lot of heart and excitement went into creating it. Laura, the owner, makes it even more special. She has great taste and gives really thoughtful recommendations. Thanks for such a lovely time, Laura!

Alma Calma is out in the countryside, so you'll need a car, but some of the island's best beaches are only 10-25 minutes away. We spent a wonderful couple of nights there. The hotel looks out over volcanoes, with the sea in the distance, and the owners gave us great tips for beaches and places to eat. Breakfast was fantastic, and we also tried the Saturday pizza dinner. The owners are Italian and make delicious pizza. The drinks and wine selection was great too. I can't think of any downsides.

The best part of Alma Calma is the open view over nature, with no houses or other signs of human activity spoiling it. The B&B is peaceful and away from the usual tourist areas and crowded spots. There are four rooms, and breakfast is a chance to chat with the other six guests if you feel like it. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. Laura knows the area well and is happy to suggest quiet beaches and good restaurants. Avoiding tourist traps and crowds seems to be her guiding principle. The rooms are on the small side, but the minimalist style and quality furnishings kept us from feeling cramped. Laura and Massimiliano have a calm, casual way about them, and their sweet dog and quirky cat are part of the family. They have Italian roots and put a lot of care into the materials and design. The place feels like understated bohemian chic, homely and apparently casual, without showy architecture, though their love of architecture comes through in the details. Massimiliano handles the design, while Laura looks after guests. A stylish homestay for anyone after a quiet atmosphere.

The hosts are the real highlight at this boutique hotel. They're so helpful with sharing all the secrets of Furteventura. The breakfast is carefully chosen, and Alma Calma's location in Tindaya is lovely, with a great sunset over the ocean. Highly recommend.
