Hotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort - All Inclusive

The pool was really nice, heated in winter, and the hotel was very clean. Most of the staff were friendly and focused on guests. The location is amazing. The rooms are old-fashioned and dated, but spotless and totally fine for us. We knew the hotel was old when we booked, and our stay was five nights. The food was a real letdown. We’re not fussy, but it was the worst we’ve seen in many years of travel, including nine holidays in the past 12 months. The ingredients seemed low quality, with processed pork and chicken. Desserts were the same every day, as was the grilled fish, which sat cold and piled up on a tray. There were smokers everywhere, a first for us, since most hotels, especially in Spain, have smoking areas these days. We won’t return.

The hotel sits by itself among the dunes, which makes for a great setting. The area and views are lovely, though first-floor rooms facing north don’t get the same view. There’s a great kitesurfing spot at the next beach. Food was good, and the all-inclusive drinks selection was decent. It really is all inclusive, so you don’t need to spend anything extra. For the location and a reasonable price, I’d give it five stars. The downsides are that the hotel is old, with rooms that feel from the 2000s, and we even spotted a small cockroach in ours. Still, the positives outweighed the negatives for us. It was better than expected, and if we return to the island, we’ll consider staying here again.

The beachside setting near Corralejo’s famous dunes was the best part for us. The scenery feels almost untouched, and the sunsets are spectacular. It’s a solid, affordable choice for a relaxed beach holiday in Fuerteventura, as long as you’re not expecting a newly renovated, high-end resort. The hotel is somewhat isolated, so you’ll need a taxi or rental car to get to Corralejo town for shops, nightlife, or more restaurants. We loved it and will be back.

The well-kept garden was a delight, especially if you love trees. This is a relaxed, family-friendly apartment hotel by a beautiful natural sandy beach. The buildings are a little dated, and the buffet restaurant is extensive, with tasty choices for vegetarians too. It was our first stay and we were planning to return. Update: During our second week, the hotel closed the apartment hotel’s own restaurant for “capacity reasons.” We were very disappointed, and our feedback didn’t change the decision. For the rest of the stay we had to find tables in the main hotel restaurant, which was noisy and far too crowded. That’s why I’ve lowered my rating significantly.
