Our waiter was really friendly and nice, which was a bright spot. The rest of the experience was very disappointing. I came with my brother and his newlywed wife from Brazil for a weekend, and we had bought a package with the Spa. We called a couple of weeks beforehand to check, and everything seemed fine. Then, a week before our visit, the hotel told us the SPA wouldn't be operating and offered either a new booking or a restaurant discount. We couldn't reschedule, so we accepted the discount, with no other option. They gave us just 9 euros each, saying that was the package's Spa value, which hadn't been disclosed. We later learned that booking it separately actually cost 20 euros. I raised this at the front desk, but they insisted 9 euros was all they could offer. We had paid over 530 euros for one night. I expected at least a room upgrade or something to make up for it, especially from a supposedly 5 star hotel. They handled it cheaply and took no ownership. It definitely didn't feel like 5 star treatment, and it wasn't worth it.

The staff are wonderful, and the gardens are the best I've seen at a hotel. It's a shame, because it could so easily be 5 stars. The rooms are a bit rusty, and our suite, one of the best rooms, had a broken shower head despite costing 200 a night. The balcony was covered in bird shit. Breakfast was absolutely standard, but cost 21 euros per person. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. The staff, though, are 5 stars.

The setting was tranquil and relaxing, and the food was beautiful. Brilliant hotel and service. If you're going to the Reus airport, don't rely on taxis. Book one well in advance. It took us over an hour to get a taxi, and we nearly missed our flight.

The staff were the real jewel: every one of them was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Many thanks to all of you. The breakfasts and dinner were very good, too. It's a wonderful, stylish place, with an inspired mix of old and new. Some bathroom fittings are getting to the point where they need revising, though they're still a treat.
