Playa Montroig Camping Resort

The beach is right there, which is really handy, and the pools were great and very clean. The heated main pool and brilliant kids’ splash pool were highlights. Entertainment was just okay. Getting around by bus was difficult, so I’d recommend hiring a car. Taxis are expensive.

We had a rough start because someone had parked on our allotted pitch. It’s a way from reception, and they didn’t answer when we called. The people responsible were a few pitches away, ignored us, and didn’t apologise. The site should enforce the rule against parking on another pitch, which would prevent this sort of thing. We’ll be back, though, and hope for an easier arrival. Apart from that, it’s an immaculately kept campsite. The website shows lush green grass, but after a long, hot season the pitches don’t necessarily look like that. The toilets and showers were spotless, the best I’ve seen at a campsite. The pools are amazing, and you can walk down to the beach. It was narrow and busy this year, but walking south gets you to a bigger stretch. There are a couple of good restaurants within walking distance if you want to leave the site. Cycling is great too, either into the hills or along the coast towards Cambrils or Miami. We really appreciated that dogs aren’t allowed.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the pool was one of the best we’ve seen in 20 years. We absolutely loved the place and would recommend it 100%!

We’ve stayed at Playa Montroig again. It’s one of the best campings in Europe, and while it’s expensive, that’s okay. The food at the restaurant is nice, and we like the terrace. We’d eaten there four nights, spending about 100€ a night for two, with no problem. Then our kids arrived, making us a group of nine, seven adults and two toddlers. We wanted a table on the terrace for our first family dinner, but were told groups over six had to eat inside. We asked why they couldn’t put two tables together, but they said it wasn’t possible and gave no proper explanation or apology. We ate indoors and the bill was over over 300€. Now we have to decide what to do about dinner for the rest of the stay. That’s how Playa Montroig irritates loyal customers. Update 11-11-25: Playa Montroig still hasn’t answered my question. Why can’t seven adults and two toddlers eat on the terrace? We rented a pitch and an expensive bungalow, yet were refused a table outside. I’ll help with the answer: “we don’t allow it” or “it’s our policy” isn’t a reason. We want to know why, after travelling over 1500 km to Spain, we have to eat indoors.
