Silken Villa de Laguardia

We had a great time here. The pool was excellent, and the restaurant had plenty of outdoor seating. There’s free parking, and the lovely village of Laguardia is an easy walk away. If the uphill walk feels like too much in the heat, there’s an ascensor into town. I’d definitely recommend it.

The drinks and appetizers on the terrace were enjoyable, and after one of the hottest days of the year in Spain, it was lovely to get into the pool. The room, though, got in the way of an otherwise good stay. We couldn’t adjust the AC ourselves, and two employees confirmed that the hotel switches it off at 11:30PM and leaves it off until 11:30AM the next day. The fan still runs, but there’s no cool air. The reception manager denied this, and when we raised what we’d experienced, nobody offered compensation. If you’re travelling in summer, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

We were pleasantly surprised by the stay. The larger corner room we booked was really comfortable, and it was nice and quiet, right by the LaGuardia old town. Breakfast was decent too.

We especially enjoyed the spa package with the room. The saunas were nice, and the circuit pool was fun. The hotel also has plenty of space in the lobby and restaurant, a small shop with local items, an outdoor terrace with full service, and a pool that’s on the small side. Our room had a balcony that was lovely in the morning, and the breakfast buffet was very good. Staff were kind and attentive, and even kept our luggage for the day after we checked out. The hotel is a few minutes’ walk from the historic center of Laguardia, where cars can’t enter. Medieval tunnels called Cavados run beneath the houses and could collapse; some wineries and restaurants have their own. Next door there’s a large events complex and a winery, Campillo, which was our favorite of the whole trip. We found the hotel very nice and would recommend it.
