Finca Alibaba

The ride up to the finca is very steep, so you'll need a rental car and should be comfortable driving on steep roads. We stayed for 7 days in June. It was around 24 Celsius by the sea, but at least 4-5 degrees cooler at the accommodation, especially at night. There was no Wi-Fi in our room, though we could get online by the pool. We came for the horses and had a riding lesson and an excursion. The instructor was excellent, very patient, and spoke English, and our guide on the excursion was wonderful too. Our room was spacious, with a small kitchen area, and everything was clean and tidy. The sea, mountain, and horses made a beautiful view, with lovely sunsets and real peace and quiet. We had a wonderful 7 days and were very pleased.

It was a nice place to stay, even though the weather wasn't great during our visit. The owners gave us an electric heater to help with the low temperatures on Tenerife at the time. One thing to know about the hot water: it's heated by gas in metal bottles. If you end up with a cold shower, let the owners know and they'll replace the gas bottle so you can have hot water again.

The apartment looked nothing like the online pictures, which seemed more likely to show a private house. It was run-down and very sparsely furnished, with mold above the dining table. The pool wasn't visible to us. Getting there involved four kilometers, with the first leg going up the mountain.

The quiet location and the view were a plus, and the little dog was the most charming part of the place. The rest was appalling. The apartment was cold and dim, with worms throughout, even in the shower, and everything felt outdated. The bed was uncomfortable and creaked constantly. Hygiene was poor, and the service left a lot to be desired. On departure day, the owner came in to clean while we were still unpacking to load the car. Unbelievable, and there wasn't even a goodbye. We should have read the reviews first. The Booking.com reviews are worth reading too.
