A classic local place that everyone around here has been to. It’s really cozy, and there’s room for the kids to run around.

There’s free folklore on Sundays from 11 am to noon. Get there about half an hour early if you want a good spot, though you can usually still find a seat.
This year, at the end of April, we came back to this lovely corner after I’d visited years ago and remembered it fondly. The houses here make up an architectural ensemble that shows typical Canarian style. We also saw the gardens at Hotel Santa Catalina, along with the Santa Catalina Chapel and the Nestor Museum. It’s definitely a city spot worth putting on your list.
It’s shameful to see this heritage site left to deteriorate, when it means so much to residents and draws so many tourists. The City Council has had three consecutive terms without the time or budget to give even a basic refresh to this proud example of traditional Canarian architecture. Just a few meters away, part of Hotel Santa Catalina, built in the same style, has been fully restored and preserved. It’s a clear example of the difference between public and private management. The Néstor Museum on the grounds has also been closed for restoration since 2017, eight years now, with no visible progress on the building or the restoration. They spend thousands and thousands of euros on promotions, trips, trade shows, and similar things, yet can’t keep this gem in even minimally decent shape.
I spend a lot of time walking around here. It’s a beautiful place to relax and watch people go by, and it’s usually kept spotless. The surroundings are lovely, and the place has been maintained in harmony with the city as it’s grown and changed. It’s accessible for people with disabilities, too. There’s also a well-known restaurant with a splendid chef. If you want to impress someone, try The Canary Village Tavern and its chef, José Graciano. I’m giving it five stars because that’s the highest rating available. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
