Apartamentos Don Carlos

We paid €62 a night, and that standard was completely unacceptable. We brought up our concerns with the host at checkout and got only an apology, with nothing resolved. The apartment was dirty throughout. There was mold on the walls and in the shower, and food splatters and dead insects on the ceiling. The shower curtain barely worked, flooding the bathroom floor every time, and the hot water ran out after a few minutes. The cleaning lady was rude when she came to clean and again when we returned to collect our luggage on the last day. She only changed the towels and emptied the trash, leaving the ceiling stains and insects, along with the other problems, untouched. This wasn’t the stay we expected from the pictures and reviews.

The apartment is comfortable and has the essentials: bathroom items, soap, a hairdryer, iron, shampoo and toilet paper. The kitchen has all the cooking equipment, a toaster, coffee machine and water cooker. It’s not luxury or fancy, but the value for money was fantastic, very cheap for such a nice apartment. It’s cleaned daily, and there’s both a regular elevator and a handicap elevator. The location is great, right in the middle of everything and within walking distance of places all around. There’s a nearby bus station if you want to go to the mall a bit farther away, and the beach, restaurants, cafes and supermarket are all close. I’d love to go back because of the location and affordable price.

For combining big-city vibes with a beach vacation in Las Palmas, I don’t think you can do much better location-wise. The apartment was clean. Reception hours are limited.

Mayte, the owner, takes good care of her guests. We got fresh towels every couple of days, and the staff made sure there wasn’t sand on the floor, which was much appreciated so close to a sandy beach. We enjoyed the apartment’s location, with lots of restaurants nearby. Mayte was helpful in pointing out where the closest supermarket was.
