Hotel Valencia

There were no food options at the hotel, though there are plenty nearby. It may be tricky if you're a picky eater. The location is good, the price very good, and the staff kind and helpful. Their English was good enough to help with what we needed. We think they were renovating some rooms while we were there, so we could hear the work. It wasn't a problem if you headed out early, and the low price made up for a lot. Room service was questionable, though, so I'd give the rooms 3 stars. We thought sheets and towels should be changed every other or third day. It's warm and you sweat, so you shower every day. If we went on another cheap vacation to Las Palmas, we'd stay here again.

The bathrooms were renovated some years ago and were fine, but the furniture seems never to have been replaced since the hotel opened. The bed was worn out, unstable, and jarring. You could hear every word in the hotel. Our room was near reception, so sleep wasn't easy. Even after midnight, hotel staff started chatting loudly at the desk instead of telling others to keep quiet. All in all, it wasn't okay even for one night.

We'd stay here again if we return to Gran Canaria. The rooms are big and clean, the staff very friendly, and the location is great near Playa Las Canteras. There's a supermarket and coffee shop just 10 metres away. The barraquito was great and cost only 1.3 euro. The Chinese food nearby was good too, the ramen was delicious at 8euro.

The photos don't show what the room was really like. We had the worst experience ever. There was a cigarette smell throughout the building, and people were clearly smoking in their rooms. Worse still, we found cockroaches and their droppings in the bathroom. We told the staff about possible health issues, but they brushed it off and sang "La cucaracha". They offered us another room, but the hygiene was unacceptable, so we chose not to spend the night and paid for a nearby hotel instead. We asked for a full refund, but unfortunately Booking.com couldn't get hold of the hotel staff, so we couldn't get it. Do yourself a favour and don't go there.
