Ventana Azul Surf Hostel

I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend the hostel. The location is great, and the staff and volunteers were super nice. Two small fixes could make nights more comfortable: the door to the rooftop female dorm kept banging against its frame when it was windy, and wouldn’t close properly. Also, each bathroom door had just one hook, which wasn’t enough for the clothes I was wearing, a towel, and clean clothes. Adding a few more hooks to each door would help.

I booked just one night in case La Ventana wasn’t for me, but I liked it so much I wanted to extend right away. Paul was great about making that work. The staff and volunteers are lovely and can help you find fun activities if you want. The dorms are spacious, and the rules help everyone respect each other. I’ve had great vibes and the time of my life here. It’ll be my first choice when I’m back on Gran Canaria.

The group activities make it easy to meet people from all over the world. I’m naturally outgoing, but even if you’re shy, it’s hard not to connect with others here. Paul is a fantastic manager, always available, day or night. La Ventana feels like home from the moment you walk in. I’ve stayed twice already and would return countless times without a second thought. The location’s lovely too: you wake up to the sound of the ocean, and even if you’ve never surfed or aren’t very good at it, it makes you want to give surfing a try and improve. This is easily the best hostel experience I’ve had.

I booked room Gofio and was lucky to get one of the king-size beds. It’s a really cozy, nice place, and the hostel’s activities made it easy to connect with other travellers. Everyone I met was friendly and pretty laid-back, no bad vibes at all. This has to be the best hostel I’ve stayed in. I’ll definitely return :)
