Hostal Rural El Tejar

It’s a lovely family-run hotel in a really useful spot just outside Toledo. We didn’t need to deal with car stickers or permissions for emissions, and we’ll stay again when we drive south to north. They kindly let us park inside, so we didn’t have to take the bikes off the roof or unpack the car. The village is a five-minute walk away, with a few restaurants and bars. There was some initial confusion with the automated keys, codes, and check-in, though that system would be handy for arrivals outside reception hours. They let us in at reception anyway. The room was spotless and quiet, a little small but cool thanks to floor cooling, which suited us since we don’t like sleeping with AC.

The snack breakfast area is a good idea, and check-in was welcoming. It was quiet at night, so sleeping was easy.

The owner, Antonio, was especially helpful and easily sorted out a mistake we’d made in the reservation. They also left water and magdalenas in the room, a thoughtful touch. Everything was clean and the rooms were fine, with parking right outside. The hostal is well located, 15 minutes from Toledo and 10 from Puy du Fou.
