Hotel La Posada Regia

Spain had an unprecedented power outage on April 28, 2025, and my family and I couldn't reach León or contact the hotel for more than 15 hours. We were meant to stay there that night, with our six-year-old child. The hotel kept our money and offered no alternative. That's the kind of treatment you can expect from this management in an extraordinary situation.

The rooms are spacious and fit the hotel's old-fashioned, warm character, so don't expect new furniture. The wooden floors look lovely, but the sound insulation isn't great. If you're not on the top floor, you'll definitely hear footsteps from above. Breakfast could be better too: the semi-buffet has limited choices and quantities, with some items on the buffet and others already set out on the tables. Service was okay. La Posada Regia is right in the center of León, just off the main street, and fairly quiet. The outside of the building is nice but not especially remarkable. Inside, though, it feels like stepping back into the XV Century, with beams on the walls and ceiling, brick walls, wooden floors and stairs, and antique furniture. Highly recommended.

I loved the cosy, warm rooms in winter, and all the old details like the stone walls and creaky floorboards. The hotel has a rustic feel with modern comfort, right in León's old town shopping area. I missed trying the restaurant, which was a shame. Hopefully I can come back one day.

The room was clean, and the hotel is reasonably priced and well placed for most tourist activities. It’s an old building in the historic sense, with exposed beams and creaky stairs that look great. My room didn’t have much of a view, but that was fine by me. I only need a hotel room to sleep and shower.
