Parador de León

The staff really made this stay for me. Everyone I dealt with was so warm, attentive, and capable, and that matters more to me than anything else at a hotel. The restaurant and bar were lovely too, and I especially enjoyed dinner and the local specialties. I loved the art collections and the gorgeous building, with its long, interesting history. My room was understated, very comfortable, and had all the modern luxury I expected. I wish I’d booked more days. One of my favorites. Gracias.

We were moved to the back of the hotel the next night, and that room was lovely and quiet. We understand there can be city noise, but for a 5* hotel, the windows in the rooms facing the plaza should reduce it as much as possible. They don’t. The first night was awful. We’d booked two nights to celebrate finishing our Camino, but the room overlooking the Plaza was impossible to sleep in. At 2:30 am, the music and yelling into microphones were still going full blast. Even with the AC fan on and earplugs, the noise was horrendous. The windows are poor quality. We’d stayed in much cheaper Camino hotels with excellent noise insulation. There was no let-up at all. If you want to sleep, absolutely refuse a room facing the plaza and ask for one on the other side. The room itself was very nice, but without sleep it became a very bad, very pricey room. Review videos don’t capture sound, or I’d share the party noise from inside our room.

We had some tapas, and it’s a great place. The atrium has been renovated a bit too much, though, so you can hardly see the original building anymore.

The terrace bar is a must, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Parador de Leon sits in a picturesque spot overlooking the river, and it’s very quiet there. It’s an easy walk to the centre of Leon, and there’s a huge car park. The building is amazing, with superb modern rooms. Breakfast was good, though not outstanding, and some of the breakfast and bar staff could have been friendlier. The amenities are top quality.
