Parador De Lerma

The mattress was hard, though that may be normal in Spain. The room itself was clean and welcoming, and the staff gave great service even while very busy. We had a terrific two-night stay last week at this beautiful property in a wonderful medieval town. We’d happily stay again.

We found this magnificent Duke's palace in the old town of Lerma while travelling back to the UK from Seville, and there was ample parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our suite was excellent, with superb views over the surrounding countryside, and the food was good both in the evening and at breakfast. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. If you can, book room 106, the stunning suite. Once you’re through that unassuming door, you won’t be disappointed!

Room 415 was spacious, but nowhere near worth the price, and we didn’t have a comfortable or relaxing night. The room was warm, and the air conditioning made a lot of noise but no cold air, so we slept with the window open. From 5am, we could hear water running in other rooms and doors slamming all along the floor. Getting online with the WiFi required a check-in process that didn’t work. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were very soft and seemed old, and the bathroom was dated. We didn’t eat there or have breakfast, so can’t comment on the food. The place is overrated; not every Parador is luxurious. I don’t think our room was worth half the asking price.

We ate at the restaurant on both nights and were very pleased with the food quality. It was very good, and the service was just as good. The Parador is a beautiful historic building right on the main square, with good parking and very helpful staff. It’s also well placed for an easy drive to Burgos. Definitely worth dining there, and highly recommended.
