Hotel La Vella Farga

We stayed at La Vella Farga on 6-7 December 2025, and it was, without exaggeration, the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. The place fell far short of the standard it claims to offer. My partner asked for pescatarian food, but we were told only meat was available. No alternatives were offered, and nobody tried to accommodate the request. The room smelled of stagnant water. When we complained, they suggested opening a window and gave us a candle. Then the bathtub leaked badly and flooded the room, soaking our belongings. Rather than fixing it, staff said there were no rooms available. They sent us to a lower tier apartment hotel but still charged us for the night here. They had promised compensation through dinner and an upgrade, then took that back and told us to leave the hotel entirely. Calling this a failure of basic hospitality barely covers it. The place was unprofessional, dismissive and astonishingly poorly managed. Avoid it if service, cleanliness or respect matter to you. There are far better places in Spain that actually care about their guests.

We were charged full price after staff moved us to a cheaper place because our room smelled like sewage and the bathroom flooded, ruining our things. They later threw us out after promising compensation, and even the refund didn’t match what we paid. It sells itself as luxury but acts like a bad hostel. Shocking management, and the worst hospitality experience we’ve ever had. Avoid at all costs!

Beautiful building, disgraceful management. We had no pescatarian food, a room that smelled like rot, and a bathroom leak that soaked our belongings. They forced us to move to a downgraded place while still charging the premium rate, then kicked us out. The refund didn’t cover what we paid. This was bait-and-switch hospitality. Stay away.

Hotel La Vella Farga is in a beautiful natural setting, and the place itself is beautiful too. We stayed last weekend, but given the price, there are some major things to improve. Reception and the staff were very kind and helpful, and breakfast was great, with lots of options and good quality. The massage itself was great as well, and the staff member was kind. Still, the full experience for a special occasion didn’t feel worth the money. The place has real potential if it makes some small improvements. I’m pregnant, and we told the restaurant in advance because it was serving a set Valentine’s menu. Even so, they brought the wrong dish four times, including food with alcohol or raw fish or meat. They also brought me cava and the wine menu twice, despite my explaining at the start of dinner and before each course that I couldn’t have those things. At €90 per person, I expected the waiter and kitchen to know what to serve a pregnant guest. The food was undercooked and cold, and we left most dishes half eaten because the quality was so poor. We were very disappointed. The next night we had a regular meal at the restaurant, and the quality still wasn’t great. We shared tasty pan con tomate with jamon, ordered two disappointing main dishes, and shared a dessert with water and one Coca-Cola. The bill was €173. That felt outrageous when the main courses were €35 each and small. The restaurant could also dim the lights and choose music that suits the mood. Often it was too quiet to hear, or they played pop songs that made the atmosphere awkward. We booked an apartment room, which was beautiful, but the TV had no international channels and Netflix didn’t work. That would have been a nice extra in a high end room. The sofa armrests were broken, and there was no towel hook by the shower. For the massage, the music came from an iPhone without a speaker, which felt amateurish. The bright bathroom lights were also on and shining in my face, making it less relaxing.
