Hotel La Encina

It was okay.

Maria Jesús deserves a special mention. She's humble, kind, pleasant, and always ready to help. If you start chatting with her, she's lovely to talk to. We spent one night at Hotel La Encina in Celorio in a simple, clean, cosy triple room with very comfortable mattresses. The garden has two holm oak trees and is a nice place to relax. Don't expect luxury, but the accommodation is very well located, just a few metres from Palombina Beach after a lovely walk. Excellent value for money. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the garden is very nice. There's also parking on site. The woman running the place is lovely and gives a warm welcome. But the noise was a serious problem for us. The soundproofing seems nonexistent, so ordinary things like walking around, even barefoot, turning on a tap, or moving a chair are audible. On one of our two nights, around 1:30 a.m., a group arrived shouting, slamming doors, and going from room to room banging on them. It was a complete racket. If you want quiet, avoid this place. You can be woken just by someone leaving their room or shutting a closet, so imagine the effect of a noisy guest, which is quite common in Spain. There's little space, too. If you have one of the corner rooms, 6 or 8 if I remember right, the room trolley will be parked in the hallway by your door day and night. I could recommend the place if guests swore an oath of civic duty on a Bible, but that probably wouldn't mean much in the festive summer atmosphere. My overall opinion is positive, but as I said, avoid it if you like peace and quiet.

The place was peaceful and super quiet, just steps from the sea. Our room was spotless, the breakfast was good, and the lady was very kind. We'll definitely be back.
