La Curuxa, Casa en Vidiago de Llanes

Just right for a peaceful getaway somewhere secluded.

The location is fantastic, close to everything while still being really quiet, and the pool area is great. The kitchen was dirty, from the cups and toaster to the stovetop and microwave. Cleaning was only okay overall. Water came through the shower screen, so we had to cover it with a plastic sheet to stop the leak. Some furniture could use an upgrade too. There was just one bedside table, a badly placed board on one side of the bed. There’s no air conditioning. Given how unpredictable the weather is in Asturias, they could at least add a ceiling fan.

It was a quiet stay in a rustic apartment, but the inside needs better cleaning and the equipment needs maintenance or replacement. There were several cobwebs and a musty smell. The sofa bed mattresses were uncomfortable, perhaps because they were old and already misshapen. Most of the equipment was quite dated. The kitchen had old, heavily used pots and a very worn wooden board, and the microwave and its cover were dirty. The pool is attractive, though it needs repairs since it’s made of stone and cement. The sun lounger area looks nice, but the plastic chairs have no cushions and get uncomfortable. The place is very peaceful, close to the centre of Llanes, and the surrounding area is beautiful.

We loved the peace and quiet, the lovely weather, and the owners’ excellent hospitality during our week at Casona de Vidiago. Our room looked out over the pool, and the facilities were great. The breakfasts were a treat, especially the delicious coffee. We also really enjoyed the owners’ recommendations and the wonderful excursions. The whole stay was lovely, and we’ll definitely return!
