Llanes International Hostel

We spent four nights there and had a very bad experience. The room wasn't cleaned properly: there was hair on the sheets, stains all over the bathroom floor, and quite a few on the disgusting shower floor. I showered trying not to touch anything, which was really uncomfortable. The breakfast and receptionist were fine, but the poor cleaning says it all for me. I don't recommend it, and we won't return.

The gardens are great, the staff very friendly, and there's a lovely beach nearby. The breakfast buffet is varied and complete, and worth having, though it doesn't start until 8 am. That can be too late if you're hiking or walking the Camino de Santiago and trying to avoid the hottest part of the day. The hostel is 2km from the center of Llanes; rooms are simple and clean, but the bathroom smelled of a drain.

The garden with its mountain view was great, and the facilities were clean and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and attentive, treating us like family. Breakfast was better than at some hotels I've stayed in, even though this is a hostel. It exceeded my expectations, and we'll be back.

We were two adults and two girls, ages 12 and 3, and all slept comfortably in our private-bathroom room. The bunk beds were decent, and it wasn't cold at all, even with the old radiators; they put out plenty of heat. We stayed three nights during Easter week and had been a bit apprehensive after reading the reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. This isn't a luxury place, but it worked perfectly for sleeping after a day walking through the villages. Breakfast was simple but had what we needed for the price. Excellent value for money. If you want somewhere simple and affordable to rest, this is it. The staff were very friendly, and we'll stay here again if we're back in the north.
