Hotel Figueres Parc

A reasonable budget hotel for an overnight stop, or perhaps a long weekend. Rooms are simple, with either a bath or a shower, and there's no tea or coffee in them. You can have an evening meal at the hotel restaurant or at the Steakhouse across the road. Breakfast is Spanish style, so don't expect eggs, sausage, or bacon. The outdoor pool is open in summer.

The rooms were comfortable and breakfast was very good, but I probably wouldn't have written a review if the owner had taken responsibility for the booking mistake. I had reserved two rooms with balconies and got none with balconies. In the morning, I was met with a lot of attitude and was blamed, along with booking, instead of the owner acknowledging the error. She was inflexible and couldn't accept responsibility. They need training in modern customer service. Sad, really.

The beautiful pool area and vegan options, including oat and coconut milk, were a lovely surprise. We only stayed one night on the way south, but we'd definitely stop here again. The owner, who was also the receptionist, gave us a very warm welcome and speaks at least four or five languages. Our room was clean and nice, parking was private, and dinner was available even though we hadn't booked it in advance. Breakfast was perfect. Thank you!

By dinner, we'd fallen for this hidden gem. The local food was very good, the music was excellent, and the pink and blue clouds outside made the evening feel wonderfully mushy. We met the owner, a stylish lady, and her cute dog, who politely greeted every table. We'd originally picked the hotel for a stop on our way from France to visit the Elbulli 1846 museum the next day. We wanted secure parking for our packed car, a clean room, and a reasonable price, with a decent meal on site for a relaxing evening. The hotel sits on a local street and has the look of a 90s place trying for luxury, but that impression changed when we saw how well kept and clean everything was, right down to the entrance and enclosed car park. Inside, old but maintained features sit alongside tasteful renovations that make it cosy. This would be a lovely place to hide away and write a book.
