AQUA Hotel Bertran Park

We had a good night's sleep every night and the breakfast was excellent, so for the money I'd stay here again. The food was really good, with a wide choice at breakfast, and there are plenty of shops and bars nearby. A large supermarket just around the corner is about half the price of the smaller local ones. The bus station isn't far, which is useful for a trip to Gerona, and the beach is about a 15-minute walk. Staff were helpful and friendly. The Aqua hotel sits alone in the middle of town, but the small one-way roads mean drop-off is about an eight-minute walk away, which could be difficult for older or disabled travellers. Rooms are a good size, though the fridge is small. The bar staff were happy to provide ice for balcony drinks, but the surrounding large buildings mean there's no real view. The pool is small and has few sunbeds, so I can imagine issues in peak summer, though October was fine. It seems more suited to adults than families with young children. One small drawback was the weak WiFi.

The rooms are decent, though ours could use a refresh. We had one at the back of the hotel, where the road is noisy and busy at peak times, including when the street is cleaned at night, so I'd avoid that side if possible. The hotel is brilliantly placed near all amenities, and the pool is a decent size with lots of sun.

I spent three nights recently at Aqua Hotel Bertran Park on a full-board basis as part of a group, and I was pleasantly surprised by the room and food quality and the service. Mary Carmen in the restaurant deserves a mention. She made us feel welcome and was always glad to accommodate requests when she could. The pool area was a bit disappointing, especially seeing sunbeds held with towels and left empty for hours. Still, the location is ideal for the beach and town centre, and I'd recommend the hotel to anyone staying nearby.

My friends and I stayed here this August, and I think we picked the best hotel in the area. Everything was great, from the food and staff to the rooms and pool. We had such a good time. Highly recommended.
