Hotel Helios Lloret

I had a great stay at Hotel Helios Lloret de Mar. There was a problem with my Booking reservation because the child hadn't been selected properly, but the staff sorted it quickly without charging extra. I wasn't in the best mood at check-in, yet they stayed professional, kind, and respectful throughout. When I accidentally broke a bottle at the restaurant, they were calm and understanding. They even offered me a complimentary bottle of wine, which was a lovely gesture. Clean hotel, good rooms, amazing staff. Highly recommended! 👍

The room was nice, but the fridge wasn't plugged in and there was no drinking water waiting for us when we arrived. The pool was great, and the bar even gives you a free cocktail. There were also excellent massages at reasonable prices. It's very central, with places to park both motorbikes and cars nearby. A very good stay, and I'd definitely recommend it for a visit to Lloret de Mar.

The place was very clean, the pool was looked after daily, and our Bulgarian housekeeper was wonderful. On arrival, a lovely receptionist who spoke perfect English gave us a welcome drink and let us check in early. We even found champagne in the room. But the rest of the experience left me with mixed feelings. On the third night, I got sick after eating mussels at dinner, and another guest had the same problem. I can't be sure, but I think the stomach ache came from dinner. Most of the waitresses were unfriendly and spoke only Spanish. The soundproofing was poor, and although we'd chosen a pool-view room, there was loud noise on some nights until 4-5 am. The airport shuttle was the biggest disappointment. At reception, I was quoted “eighteen euro.” I checked twice, asking clearly, “Eighteen? Each?” because it sounded too cheap, and the receptionist told me that was the total. I'd already asked a taxi about the price and was told €65-70, so I booked the shuttle. The hotel took €10, saying I'd pay the rest to the driver. When he arrived, he asked for another €80. That made €90 for a 20-minute ride, more than a taxi. He said the €10 I'd paid was just a “hotel fee,” apparently for calling the shuttle, even though it was advertised as a hotel service. After paying for seven nights with meals included, I ended up with a shuttle more expensive than a regular taxi and another €10 fee just for arranging it. The €20-30 difference isn't the main issue. It's the poor English communication, despite my repeated question about the price, and charging a fee for their own advertised service that I find unacceptable. The food, staff service, noise, and extremely high shuttle cost brought my rating down from five stars to three.

The facilities were fantastic, the staff couldn't have done more for us, and the location is right in the center. We recently spent four nights at Hotel Helios and I'd definitely recommend staying here. Helen, Co. Limerick, Ireland
