Melia Lloret de Mar

We had a beautiful suite at Meliá Lloret de Mar, spacious and elegant, and a lovely place to come back to after exploring town. The gym was well equipped, the swimming areas were pristine, and the stylish Bali beds made poolside lounging feel glamorous. WiFi worked strongly throughout, which was handy for FaceTime calls back to the UK. There were plenty of good places to eat and socialise a short walk away. We especially liked the Shisha lounge directly across the road. It was relaxed, convenient and affordable. Breakfast was another highlight, with fresh fruit, pastries and hot dishes, all high quality. A luxurious and comfortable stay, and one I’d wholeheartedly recommend in Lloret.

Jose gave my mum a facial for her birthday, and she’s still saying how amazing it was a week later. Maria was super friendly around the pool, and so were all the other staff we met. We stayed four nights in a junior suite that was spacious and very clean, with a huge terrace and lovely views of the sea and city. Great service and atmosphere. We’d come back.

The staff were lovely, ten stars to them, and the location was great. Still, after four days here I wouldn’t recommend the hotel or return. It’s an older budget place that needs maintenance, and which building you’re in seems to matter. We didn’t like our part of it. Our second-floor room had a strange smell. It was fairly clean, though there were crumbs on the beds when we arrived. The pillow was nice, but the beds could have been more comfortable. The room felt old-fashioned, with lots of things needing replacement or repair, starting with the doors. WiFi was inconsistent the whole stay. There wasn’t much sleep to be had: kids played ball in the foyer late at night, music from the hotels was loud, and people shouted at each other. The hotel has two restaurants and three pools, but ours didn’t appeal to us, so we didn’t use it. The restaurant felt like communal dining. Groups crowded it, and there were so many people waiting for breakfast or dinner to open that it was hard to believe. In the end, you get what you pay for.

The buffet was genuinely good quality at both breakfast and dinner, and drinks were inexpensive. We also paid €10 to use the spa, which was lovely. The pool and restaurant areas were beautiful, and the staff and service were amazing. Such a delightful trip, I’d absolutely visit again.
