Ona Luna Park

The buffet offered a lot of choice, but there was no local food, and the quality left a lot to be desired. If you’re hoping for paella, don’t expect to find a single shrimp in it, even after an hour. The tomatoes and oranges had no taste, worse than what we get in rainy Belgium, and you’d think fruit grown in the Majorcan sun would taste better. The pool bar food was tragic: with all-inclusive, I got cold, inedible food, including two artificial, preservative-filled hamburger buns with a cold slice of cheese. The drinks there were disgusting too. The regular bar drinks tasted completely artificial as well, like powdered water mixed together. The hotel is a tragedy in general. Everything is loud, as if the walls were cardboard, and the pools look unpleasant and are small, maybe two or three-star at most. There weren’t enough sun loungers for more than half the guests. The beach is quite far, so getting there is a struggle, though there are plenty of nearby bars, restaurants, and souvenir shops. The staff often made it seem like they were doing us a favor, and rolled their eyes while clearing plates. The towels were changed regularly, at least. I know it’s not a five-star hotel, but you shouldn’t have to cut corners this much. Anyone used to a normal diet might find the food and drinks unpleasant or impossible to swallow.

The extra €30 fee just to stay there felt unreasonable, and the location alone couldn’t make up for the rest. I wouldn’t recommend Seramar Hotel Luna Park or stay there again, mostly because of the staff, who seemed cold and avoided eye contact. For a three-star place, the first impression was only okay. The room wasn’t comfortable: the bed was unpleasant, one light didn’t work, and the lighting otherwise was just decent. The temperature was fine, but the shower door didn’t seal, so water got onto the floor, and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Food quality was low too.

There were some annoyances in the room: the two single beds were pushed together, it smelled faintly of smoke, and showering almost inevitably flooded the bathroom. A bathroom door would’ve been nice too. Still, it was a comfortable stay. The staff were straightforward and friendly, breakfast was good, and the location was decent. You can walk to the beach or catch a bus to go elsewhere. If you want a satisfying budget option, this could work.

I had a great week at Luna Park in early October and would happily come back. Check-in was quick, and I was pleased with my room after upgrading to a pool view. The half-board breakfast was one of the best I’ve had, and dinner was good, with a big choice of fruit. The pool area was clean and tidy, and I could always find a sunbed, though the beds themselves aren’t great since the backs don’t adjust. WiFi is free and good, and the bar has a decent drinks selection at okay prices. It’s in a quieter part of a busy resort, with buses nearby for Palma city centre and the airport.
