A Cabana de Cao

There’s a small parking area beside the entrance, plus a little garden with tables where you can have breakfast or lunch when the weather’s good. The place is very peaceful and the people are lovely. Rooms are a nice size, each with a private bathroom, and they’re cleaned and made up every day. The pillows were thin, but when we asked for two more, they brought them without any fuss. Since the building is all wood, there’s quite a bit of humidity, though that’s expected in the middle of a small forest.

The staff were really friendly and gave us helpful information about the area, which is spectacular for visiting, hiking, beaches, and more. It’s a very quiet place in a eucalyptus forest, and getting there by car is easy.

Fran shared lots of useful suggestions for places to see nearby, and the area is spectacular. We spent four nights there in August 2022 with our dog, staying at La Cabana de Cao. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, with a huge bedroom and large windows that let in lots of light. The curtains still gave us privacy. The village is quiet and easy to reach, and the location makes it possible to visit plenty of places without driving too far.

It’s a modern house with a retro, rustic country feel, and it’s very quiet. The beds are quite comfortable, and you can walk on the paths nearby. Just bear in mind that you need a car for everything. The women who helped us were very friendly, but they didn’t tell us what to see or where to eat, or explain what the house had available. I only found the board games by opening cupboards, though we hadn’t asked about them. There’s no refrigerator, microwave, or anything similar, which is a real drawback if you want to have dinner there without needing a car. I’d seen an older review where someone said they had verbally suggested this to the owners, but they still haven’t added anything. Breakfast was VERY basic and the same every day: weak coffee, milk, a small glass of fresh orange juice, toast, and cake. The jam was supermarket bought, and there were no savory choices. People staying in rural places usually expect a bit of attention to detail.
