Hotel Abades Loja

The people are very nice, and the restaurant is good and stays open until midnight. But this hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and without a car you’re stuck. A taxi to Loja, the nearest town, costs €12 each way, wherever you’re going, and the bus station isn’t nearby either, so you need a taxi to get there. Buses are limited, and walking around doesn’t feel safe. The room prices are cheap, and one night could be manageable, but bring earplugs or you’ll hear everything. Also, skip the desayuno energetico. The Jamon was like plastic.

The room was filled with cigarette smoke, especially the pillows and blankets. The hotel is old and rundown, the bed makes a terrible noise, towels are old, and traffic came through the balcony door loudly all night. The air conditioning was weak and noisy, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work. You also have to leave a €10 deposit for the TV remote. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

The staff are nice, and there are some good amenities in the same building, with nice views of the surrounding area. The hotel and rooms have an older look, with classic furniture, and the walls are thin. Bring earplugs if you want a longer sleep.

A decent, inexpensive hotel in a convenient spot. The rooms are a little dated but nice. The desk is staffed around the clock, and we were able to walk in and get a room at about 11pm.
