Hotel Ruta Del Poniente

We chose this village hotel for its reviews and its location near the motorway, and weren't disappointed. The room was comfortable, the place was very clean, and the service was excellent. For 50 Euros we got a night's stay and a good breakfast, with the chef preparing whatever you order. It was just right for an overnight stop.

We got a good night's sleep in a cosy, compact room that was just big enough for that. We left early, so we didn't try breakfast. What I'll remember most is how kindly the owner helped us when our 2016 Audi A4 avant suddenly stopped after an MCU fault. The engine shut down, the car wouldn't start, and all the safety systems showed faults. I was stunned, and couldn't get it moving for over half an hour. It was around 01:00, and communication was difficult because I don't speak Spanish and she didn't speak English. Google Translate helped us get by until her sister and brother-in-law got up and came over. He spoke excellent English. After about 35 minutes the car had cooled down and its system started again, perhaps after an automatic reboot. The owner calmed my wife and daughter, brought them inside to stay safe, and kept an eye on them while I tried to work out what had gone wrong. I took the car for a short test drive, checked all the systems, then parked behind the hotel and restarted it five times to be sure. It worked each time. After six hours' sleep and a shower, we left, and the owner gave us what I think was a discount, perhaps because we hadn't had breakfast. That was very thoughtful. We'll never forget her kindness. If we get the chance, we'll return. Muchas gracias señora, you saved our night.

We hadn't booked ahead and were lucky to find this hotel. We'd first reserved Hotel Almazara, but it was closed when we arrived, with all the doors locked and the place deserted. Hotel ruta del Poniente was spotless, the food was delicious, and the employees were extremely nice. We'd recommend staying there without hesitation.

The large rooms are good, and the bathroom is excellent. Ask for a room at the back. Downstairs there's a resto-cafe with enough choice and a cheap, decent menu del día, wine included for 10€. There was plenty of public parking both out front and behind. It's a small village, and if you need a shop, go to the Repsol.
