Parador de Lorca

Our room was large, spacious and exceptionally clean. The shower in our particular room, 725, had very low water pressure and the water was warm rather than hot, but that didn't spoil an otherwise very enjoyable stay. This was our first stop for two nights at the start of a much longer road trip around North Eastern Spain, and our first time at a Parador. Everyone we met, from Reception and Pool staff to cleaners, restaurant and Cafeteria staff, was professional, friendly, cheerful and helpful with questions. We ate on the Cafeteria terrace both evenings. The menu was extensive, very tasty and surprisingly economical.

Rain kept us indoors for the two days we were there, so we used the swimming pool and joined the guided tour of the synagogue ruins below the Parador. The dinners were served at the table, with several dishes to choose from, and the breakfast buffet had plenty of variety and excellent pastries. Our bedroom was large, and the beautifully decorated bathroom was roomy too. Inside, the decoration and materials were tastefully presented. The Parador itself stands majestically above Lorca, bold and noble, and is an architectural delight for anyone who admires architecture.

The staff were attentive and helpful, and the pool water was very warm, around 41 C. The hotel is 300 metres above Lorca in the castle grounds. It can be hard to find your way in, but it's worth the effort.

We went back to the restaurant yesterday and had another wonderful meal. A big thank you to Emilio for the five-star service. He speaks extremely good English. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
