Occidental Torremolinos Playa

The drinks selection was well above average for an all-inclusive. There were more than eight cocktails, plus coffee and tea available from 9:00 to 00:00, and you could get Ballantine’s with cola or Gordon’s or Beefeater with tonic instead of just local options. The food has been delicious three times a day so far. At dinner today, the Tex-Mex corner was great, and even the five cakes I tried were all tasty, though I’m not usually into cake. I’m impressed with the quality and enjoying my stay. I usually wait until checkout to write a review, but this was too good not to mention.

We won’t be coming back. With young children, it was a mess to find out we had to check out at noon even though our transfer wasn’t due until 7pm, so we couldn’t enjoy the last full day we’d paid for. The checkout detail was in small print on a different part of the card we signed with the hotel information. The hotel itself is lovely, with beautiful views and nice food to try each night, but that last day really spoiled things.

The staff were amazing and really helpful. It’s a modern, very clean hotel, and accessibility was good too, with ramps to all areas. It backs right onto the promenade, where there are little restaurants if you want a break from the excellent food at the hotel.

We had booked seven nights, but our son got a fever and we left after six. I know the stay was non-refundable, but I thought the hotel might be understanding about our situation. The reply was very curt, just saying no, which was really disappointing. During the stay, though, all the staff at breakfast and dinner were friendly and helpful.
