During the Covid-19 pandemic, when cleanliness should have been impeccable, we arrived to find the apartment hadn’t been cleaned at all. The sheets were stained and covered in hair. There were dirty rags and clothes in the washing machine, food scraps on dishes in the dishwasher, overflowing bins and a bathroom laundry basket full of dirty clothes. We also found soap shavings, other guests’ empty toothpaste tubes, and rubbish bags from a previous stay by the entrance.
