Casa Rural Monte Del Agua

A cozy, old-style house with modern equipment and a friendly host. The heating worked well in early January. My old eyes could have done with brighter lights.

Casa 2 was warm and had everything we needed in the kitchen, including a welcome cheese that was delicious. The owner was really friendly, and there’s a wine fridge, morning bread delivery, and a grill outside for each house. We stayed four days in this spotless, thoughtfully renovated place, which is a good size for two. There’s no dishwasher or washing machine in the apartment, though the owner will do laundry for free. The quiet village makes a lovely base for walks. From the house, the route through Cuevas Netas to Los Silos is steep but fantastic, with 950 meters of elevation over 5.7 km, then you can return by bus via Icod. You could also hike around Chinyero, or do the almond blossom route in February/March from Arguayo to Santiago, with a taxi from Santiago costing about €10.

Mr. Ismael was so welcoming and attentive. We found this rural house by chance, and it’s been one of our favorite places to stay in Tenerife. It’s spacious, very clean, and well cared for, and there’s real peace and quiet here. We’d happily recommend it.

Parking, a picnic spot, and plenty of amenities make this a handy place to stay, whether you want to unwind or go hiking. It’s lovely and cozy, very clean, and Ismael is a sweetheart. There are lots of thoughtful little touches, too.
