Hotel Auditorio Santiago & SPA

The two staff members I met were lovely, and the bed was good enough that I slept well. The more expensive corner room with a jacuzzi was comfortable, though the jacuzzi itself was boring. Still, I don't want to use this brand again. The kitchen was closed, room service didn't answer, and we couldn't get dinner; breakfast ended at 10:30 and we'd missed it. They wouldn't provide any food or drink, but still charged us. Eating out wasn't an option, as there was nowhere nearby and a busy festival in Lugo had everything booked. The room was dull, with no USB sockets, a tiny TV, faulty fixtures, and bad light bulbs. The view was of an industrial estate. The spa wasn't thermal water and was very small, there were no robes, the pool was dirty, and restricted sauna hours meant we missed it.

The hotel and rooms felt a little old-fashioned, but they were clean. The restaurant food was fresh and delicious, and the chef cooked very well. Getting into the outdoor pool came with a few surprises: slippers were required, and you had to ask reception for towels. I was even told to go buy slippers if I wanted to use the pool. There's grass beside it where you can sit in the sun, so enjoy.

We travel with our Yorkshire terrier and were looking for a pet-friendly hotel, but this was the worst one we'd stayed at, including many 2-, 3-, and 4-star places. First they put us in a room with a strong, unpleasant smell, as if people had been smoking there. We asked and were moved to another room. We also couldn't eat in the restaurant with our dog, either indoors or outside, which was cold; there were no other places to eat near the hotel, so we ended up ordering food to the room. Check-in before 6 p.m. wasn't possible, and we couldn't take the dog to the swimming pool either. If you're traveling with a dog, it's better to look elsewhere.

The room and service were fine, but I wouldn't recommend the cafeteria or breakfast. The food didn't taste fresh.
