Roots&Boots Lugo

We were the only three guests, so the spacious room and cotton sheets made for a comfortable stay. The old building is above a bar, on the edge of town but still on the Camino, and it was quiet. If the beds had all been occupied, though, sharing just one toilet and one shower with no storage could have been a problem.

The riverside views from the room were lovely, and the place was clean and following special safety and hygiene measures. I did find the beer and coffee prices pretty high compared with what was available nearby.

We were really disappointed, even though we hadn't paid much. The bed was awful, and noise from people talking in the street made it hard to imagine getting any sleep. The staff working there also seemed short on smiles, which I think matters when you're running a bar and hotel. The room itself was okay. Breakfast was far too expensive for orange juice, coffee, and two pieces of toast, so I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The terrace is pleasant and the service was fine when I stopped by for a beer with friends one afternoon. I've lived in Lugo for over 20 years, and the price seemed high: a 0.3 ml beer was €2.20, while in the city centre it usually costs €1.50-€1.80.
