Hotel Rural Los Argüellos

It’s very quiet here, with spectacular views, good heating, friendly staff, and delicious meals in the dining room. The hotel itself is very good and the price is quite reasonable. Getting there works especially well if you’re coming in from the lower side. For San Isidro, though, you need to enter the resort from the Río Pinos side, where there’s very little equipment available to rent. Bringing your own gear avoids that issue. Driving up to the pass also means taking a detour of about an hour. The route is beautiful, but that extra time can be a hassle.

The owners were attentive throughout our stay and made us feel right at home. We had a wonderful week and really enjoyed the hotel, which was both clean and beautiful. I also loved the location, with hiking trails away from the hectic city, the Valporquero and Llamazares caves, the Río Faro waterfalls route, and the San Isidro ski resort nearby. León is an hour away, and the Picos de Europa are just over an hour away. We’ll definitely be back.

We were surprised by an extra bread charge, since they served it alongside the bread included with the set menu without asking. We really didn’t appreciate that. The meal itself was good: two couples and a child went for lunch, and all four adults chose the set menu, which looked appealing and didn’t disappoint. The child had Iberian pork shoulder. Everything was fine, and the service was quick and attentive.

We had the weekend menu, with rice and lobster, entrecote with Padrón peppers, dessert, and coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious, and both the food and service were excellent. The dining room only has forty-five seats and fills quickly, so it’s a good idea to reserve. The beautiful setting made for a lovely end to the meal, and I highly recommend the place for its quality.
